India ratings: Sony Wah overtakes ZEE & Star

In encouraging news for Sony Pictures Networks, its recently launched free movies channel, Sony Wah has overtaken the more established channels, ZEE Cinema and Star Gold in latest India television ratings.

According to Week 33 data from BARC India, Sony Wah was at No.2 in the Hindi movie genre pecking order. Sony MAX was the biggest movie channel with 523383 Impressions (last week 440251 Impressions). Sony Wah climbed up from No.4 to No.2 this week with 478607 Impressions. ZEE Cinema settled for No.3 with 473186 Impressions and Star Gold at No.4 with 415818 Impressions. Rishtey Cineplex stood firm at No.5 with 230576 Impressions.

It will be interesting to see if Sony Wah can do what Sony Pal has done in India ratings by overtaking the flagship channel in its genre. For many months now, Sony Pal has managed to stay ahead of Sony Entertainment Television and Sony Pal. Sony Wah seems to be a big contender for the No.1 position.
