India ratings: Sony TV gets closer to Star Plus


A revived Sony Entertainment Television Asia touched new heights in the ratings, according to data for Week 38 of 2011.

The channel, which has witnessed a boost in its viewership since the launch of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ has notched up 271 GRPs (last week 243). Sony TV added 28 GRPs from ‘KBC’, ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ and ‘Crime Petrol’.

‘KBC’ has also become the most watched show on Hindi television across India. Its episode featuring Ranbir Kapoor on Thursday registered 6.0 TVR, the highest since the show launched on Sony TV. ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ also did well and found a place inside the Top 5 Hindi shows.

Star Plus lost 15 GRPs this week but still hold the mantle as India’s number one channel. It garnered 292 GRPs (last week 307). Colors also lost 14 GRPs, totaling to 219 GRPs (last week 233 GRPs).

ZEE TV saw a small reprieve with an addition of 3 points. It recorded 184 points (last week 181).

At five was SAB TV with 124 GRPs (last week 112).

Imagine TV registered 75 GRPs during the week (last week 68).

In terms of shows, ‘KBC’ (5.4) was the most watched show on Hindi entertainment TV in India, followed by ‘Saathiya’ (5.2), ‘Balika Vadhu’ (4.4), ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ (4.0), ‘Uttaran’ (3.8) and ‘Pavitra Rishta’ (3.8).
