India ratings: Sony TV gathers pace

Sony Entertainment Television Asia was witnessed a big rise in latest ratings, according to official data from BARC India for Week 27 of 2016. While, Star Plus remained India’s most watched Hindi entertainment channel in the Urban market and ZEE Anmol held on to the lead in the Rural sector.

Star Plus was slightly down but retained pole position with 459.294 million Impressions (last week 466.938 million Impressions), followed by Colors with 435.791 million Impressions (last week 429.036 million Impressions) and ZEE TV in third with 328.823 million Impressions (last week�۪s 323.472 million Impressions). SAB TV was in fourth with 257.375 million Impressions (last week 265.434 million Impressions) and Sony Entertainment Television Asia moved up to fifth with 256.479 million Impressions (last week 253.259 million Impressions).

The next tier consisted of Life OK with 253.921 million Impressions, followed by &TV with 121.712 million Impressions, Sony Pal with 107.125 million Impressions, ZEE Anmol with 104.516 million Impressions and Star Utsav with 104.101 million Impressions.

The biggest show in the Urban market was ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ on ZEE TV with 7.545 million Impressions (last week 6.622), followed by ‘Comedy Nights Live’ surprisingly at No.2 with 7.176 million Impressions and Star Plus’ ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ dropping to third with 6.518 million Impressions.

In the Rural market, ZEE Anmol held on to the lead with 369.297 million Impressions (last week 401.267 million Impressions), followed by Star Utsav with 354.191 million Impressions (last week�۪s 364.616 million Impressions) and Sony Pal in third with 300.979 million Impressions (last week�۪s 342.335 million Impressions). In fourth was ZEE TV with 255.580 million Impressions (last week�۪s 264.101 Impressions) and Star Plus with 218.654 million Impressions, rising from last week�۪s 231.625 million Impressions.

The biggest show in the Rural market was ‘Jodha Akbar’ on ZEE Anmol with 7.686 million Impressions (last week 7.117 million Impressions), followed by ‘Bandini’ on the same channel with 6.198 million Impressions (last week 5.668 million Impressions) and ZEE TV’s ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ in third with 5.950 million Impressions (last week 4.875 million Impressions).
