India ratings: ‘Singham’ premiere registers 8.7 TVR

The World TV Premiere of ‘Singham’ on the newly revamped Star Gold has proved a monster hit on the channel, registering a rating of 8.7 TVR.

Star Gold premiered the movie on Saturday (10th September) during which it unveiled its new logo and on-air packaging.

Furthermore, ‘Singham’ was aired on a non-general entertainment channel, which gives Star Gold even more reason to celebrate as its rating is on par with other movie premieres shown on entertainment channels. Previously, Star TV, ZEE Network, Sony TV and Colors screened big movie premieres on their flagship channels before their respective movie channels to garner larger eyeballs. No doubt, Star Gold’s successful strategy will make rivals re-think their future scheduling plans.

The premiere of the movie was promoted on various platforms ahead of the telecast, including cross-channel promotion, outdoor and print activities besides trade communication.

‘Singham’, which is still being shown at cinemas across India, is one of this year’s biggest hits starring Ajay Devgn. The film has pushed Star Gold to become a huge contender competing with old favourites ZEE Cinema, MAX and the newly launched UTV Movies (India).
