The start of the Indian Premier League gave Sony MAX a huge ratings boost, taking it back to the No.1 spot (movie genre) in India.
According to official data from BARC for Week 14, the first three days of the IPL 2017 tournament pushed Sony MAX to the No.1 position in the movie genre – Including Urban and Rural markets. According to LiveMint, the first three matches (5th – 7th April) of this year delivered an average 88.3 million impressions, up 40% from last year. The first three matches raked in 185.7 million viewers, almost 15% higher than last year.
Sony MAX was second most watched channel in India with 853.49 million impressions, after Tamil-language general entertainment channel Sun TV.
