Entertainment channels in India saw a significant impact on their ratings in the latest round of official data release by TAM for Week 17 of 2014.

Star Plus remained the market leader, celebrating eight shows inside the Top 10 most watched shows in India for the first time in recent years. The channel’s overall rating was down slightly from last week. Its gross viewership of 743 TVM and a relative share of 29.51% this week (last week 791 TVM with 30.47% relative share).

ZEE TV was in second place – down slightly from last week. It was down to 445 TVM (last week 473 TVM). Its relative share dropped to 17.67% (last week 18.22%).

Colors was next with 423 TVM and a relative of 16.80% (last week 433 TVM and 16.68% relative share). Whilst its weekend shows did well, its weekday programming lacked the same popularity.

Star Life Ok was in fourth with 350 TVM with a relative share of 13.90% (last week 389 TVM and 14.98% relative share).

Sony Entertainment Television Asia was in fifth – rising above sister channel Sony SAB TV on the back of coverage of Umang 2014. Its viewership was at 297 TVM and a relative share of 11.80% (last week 244 TVM and 9.40% relative share).

Sony SAB TV was in sixth with 260 GTVM and a relative share of 10.33% (last week 266 TVM and 10.25% relative share).

The most watched show in India during the weekday was ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ with 13.3 TVM, followed by ‘Jodha Akbar’ with 9.8 TVM and ‘Saathiya’ with 9.5 TVM. Amongst the weekend shows ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ remained top with 6.4 TVM, while ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ also on Colors was next with 5.8 TVM.
