India denies screening of ‘The Legend Of Maula Jatt’
The highly anticipated release of ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’, Pakistan’s highest-grossing film, has been stalled in India after officials in New Delhi denied permission for its screening.
The movie, a remake of a 1979 Punjabi film, was set to become the first Pakistani film to be screened in India in over a decade. However, its debut in the northern state of Punjab has been put on hold indefinitely, BBC sources report.
The film’s Indian distributor, ZeEE Studios, confirmed that they were instructed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to delay the release. As of now, no specific reasons have been provided for the decision, and the ministry has yet to issue an official statement.
