In Video: Shaan releases debut Bengali single China

Call this a pre-Puja gift or a post lockdown gift, this surprise is going to keep you on your toes. Our very own Shaan brings you his first ever Bengali track “China”. The launch was hosted in the esteemed presence of Singer Shaan, Actors Neel Bhattacharya, Trina Saha and lyricist Rajib Chakraborty today.

The song has been composed and sung by Shaan himself and the lyrics have been very cleverly injected by lyricist Rajib Chakraborty.

The word “China” has a different meaning in Bengali. It means “I do not want.” The track takes a fun potshot on “China” with the sentiment of Make in India and Aatma Nirbhar. This light-hearted peppy dance number talks about a boy who is unhappy with the ‘social media’ obsession of his girlfriend.

The video portrays a millennial couple during ‘lockdown’. The boy is shown to be obsessed with the girl and the girl seems to be more obsessed with social media. Eventually, he realizes that he stands second in her priority list. Meanwhile, Shaan keeps crooning the ‘China’ song. It is an exciting music that relates this generation’s problem.

At the music launch, Shaan, Composer & Singer said, “We are all going through a sentimental phase post lockdown. Everyone is scared about what happens next and people have also become bored sitting at home. So, this track is meant to cheer everyone up. It has nothing to do with China as a country or Covid-19 or even lockdown.”

During the music launch, Neel Bhattacharya, actor, said, “This is the first time that we have got this opportunity to work with Shaan and we are very excited about it. This is also a new experience as it has been shot on our phones at our homes during the lockdown period.”

Trina too sounded really enthusiastic about her new release. “We hope that we will be able to give our audience a beautiful joyride.”

This is the first time that an Indian music video is designed to create a delusion that the phone has been taken over, almost hijacked, as the video appears on the entire screen on Portrait Mode. Most importantly, the whole video was shot at the respective artists’ place, with the use of their phones only.

The video features two of the most popular young actors, Trina Saha and Neel Bhattacharya of Bengali Television Industry. The music video is conceptualized and produced by Supari Studios of Mumbai.
