Student of the Year
Nazia Hassan classic to be used in 'Student of the Year'

Way back in 1981, the late Nazia Hassan, a Pakistani singer released her pop album Disco Deewane۪ which smashed the charts in more than ten countries worldwide. Now word is that Karan Johar will remake the track in his upcoming directorial venture Student of the Year۪ which releases later this year.

The track has apparently been recreated by Vishal-Shekhar and sung by Sunidhi Chauhan with portions of the original classic by Biddu and Nazia being retained in the song.

“Karan was keen to recreate the song and has used it in the film that has been picturised on the lead cast of Siddarth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt,” said a source to NDTV Movies.

“Karan wanted the first song of the film to be a chartbuster. He was always clear that out of the six tracks for the film, Disco Deewane۪ would be the first song for the audience. His decision was approved by the entire team,” the source concluded.

Hassan died of lung cancer in 2000. Along with Disco Deewane۪, her other memorable songs include Aaj Jaisa Koi۪ from Qurbani (1980) and Boom Boom۪ from Star۪ (1982).

A teaser of the new song can be viewed right here.
