From the moment Sajid Khan’s ‘Himmatwala’ (1983) remake’s first look was unveiled, interest in the 2013 version was heightened. Starring Ajay Devgn and Tamannaah in lead roles, the film promises to be one to watch out for in a year scattered with remakes and sequels. Recently, it was revealed that the beautiful Sonakshi Sinha will be seen in a retro item song in the movie. BizAsia bring to you stills from the song – called Thank God It’s Friday – and the sets in which the song was filmed.

Wearing a gorgeous dress by none other than Manish Malhotra, Sinha was roped in by Khan after she impressed him with her moves in Go Go Govinda with Prabhu Deva which was an item song in Akshay Kumar starrer ‘OMG Oh My God’ (2012). Talking about Sinha, Khan said, “Thank God its Friday will bring back memories of the good old days of the disco music of the 80۪s and I can promise everyone that on Thursday night and Friday morning, you۪ll be saying THANK GOD IT۪S FRIDAY۝ and Sonakshi۪s fans are in for a pleasant surprise”.

Sung by the talented and versatile Sunidhi Chauhan and composed by Sachin-Jigar, Sinha is currently shooting for the song and having the time of her life doing so. Commenting on her experience, Sinha expressed, “Right from when I met Sajid to discuss the song, its beat and catchy tune really appealed to me. I have been approached to do disco numbers earlier too, but refused. The song from Himmatwala was something different_it takes you back to the 80۪s and I enjoyed the experience”. The song is choreographed by Chinni Prakash.
