In Pictures: Amitabh Bachchan at 10 Downing Street
BizAsia reported yesterday that Amitabh Bachchan attended a reception at 10 Downing Street, office and residence of the UK’s Prime Minister David Cameron. The reception was hosted by Cameron’s wife, Samantha, especially for Silver Star charity.
The actor recently posted a photo of himself on a social networking site outside the number 10 front door. He said, “At 10, Downing Street, historic edifice of iconic proportions, as Guest of Honor for the Silver Star Charity that works at detecting diabetes all across the world ..��Had launched mobile units in UK, and two in India, in Goa and in Mumbai .. what a moment to meet the PM, David Cameron and his charming wife who played host to us .. that doorway has seen the passage of time and the footfalls of some of the greatest in the Universe ..the famous stairway lined with all the photographs of all the Prime Ministers and the various important rooms where decisions and conferences took place .. such a honor for me to be decorated there …”
He went on to say, “And with the Prime Minister David Cameron, who was gracious and patient with us despite the very important cabinet meetings on in adjoining room, discussing and taking opinions on what goes around in the world .. he had heard and knew about me .. through the Nanny to his child …��And with Mrs Cameron our gracious host for the evening, with Rt Hon Keith Vaz in front of the historic fireplace where all the VIP dignitaries meet and exchange views ..”
Bachchan also tweeted about receiving the Global Diversity Award in Parliament, “And just back from the British houses of Parliament, presented by Speaker in his House by the Global Diversity Award .. historic !!…��Speakers House over 1000 years old, unimaginable structure and interiors .. what an honour, a most rare opportunity to be there !!”
He went on, “Hugh Grant present and speaks gloriously about me, apart from the most stunning speech by the Hon. Speaker of the House of Commons !…��And a rare visit to the Monarch’s bedroom ! Where the to be Coronated King or Queen spends the night before the crown is put on !!… I am simply overwhelmed..no actor has ever been given this privilege .. I am blessed ..BUT the House is unbelievable inside and out.”
