In Pictures: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan honoured at Miss World 2014

Since Aishwarya Rai Bachchan won the Miss World pageant in 1994, it’s as if she hasn’t looked back since. Now a successful actress, who has brought Indian cinema to the international stage many a time, she has been honoured at the Miss World 2014 pageant, the 64th edition taking place in London, today as the most successful Miss World to date and for her commitment to “beauty with a purpose”.

Bachchan was accompanied at the event by her mother Vrinda, her husband Abhishek and also her three-year-old daughter Aaradhya. She spoke of her husband as her soulmate and her daughter as her angel. Bachchan said in her acceptance speech, “I stand here overwhelmed by this honour. I thank Miss World Organization for such an incredible honour that I have received…”

“To have the opportunity to hold the title, to wear the crown with pride… that was my one time to go out there and experience beauty with a purpose…” she said. She also spoke of Abhishek as her soulmate and Aaradhya as her angel.

Bachchan recently marked 20 years since winning the crown.
