Star Plus has been enjoying being in pole position in the UK for several months, however, this week Imagine Dil Se has come up trumps.
With the exception of one week, Star Plus has remained the market leader in the five channels that are measured by official audience ratings body, BARB.
Data for week ending 19th June, Imagine Dil Se had a weekly reach of 980,000, that’s 72,000 more than Star Plus, which settled with 908,000.
Imagine Dil Se’s recent success is down to the heavy publicity surrounding its latest reality TV show ‘Swayamavar 3: Ratan Ka Rishta’ and shows like ‘Chandragupta Maurya’ and a couple of other dramas performing well for the channel.
Star Gold remained a solid third with 616,000, followed by Sunrise TV in fourth with 477,000 and Zing with its new avatar in the week in question with 456,000.
What remains to be seen is if Imagine Dil Se can sustain its popularity in the BARB ratings. The last time Imagine Dil Se was in the numero uno slot in the UK was during the launch of Shah Rukh Khan’s flop show ‘Zor Ka Jhatka: Total Wipeout’ in early-March.
