Ileana D’Cruz: “Athiya is very genuine”

Ileana D’Cruz and Athiya Shetty share the screen in the upcoming Anees Bazmee directorial ‘Mubarakan’. While many rumours float around about two heroines clashing when they’re in the same film, these two developed an admirable bond.

D’Cruz was recently asked about acting in films which have more than just one female lead. She told TOI, “I’m happy with the way my character in ‘Mubarakan’ has shaped up. I’m not insecure, that’s why I have no issues sharing screen space with another actress or doing a two-heroine film… There are some who pretend to be nice while talking to you, but talk bad behind your back. Athiya is very genuine and we hit it off right from day one. Ditto with Esha Gupta; we both did Rustom together and now, we are doing ‘Baadshaho’ as well”.

On deciding not to talk about her other half Andrew in the media, despite always being open about the relationship, D’Cruz commented, “I’ve done that in the past, but things went out of hand. You often get misquoted or the other person misunderstands you, which is fine because it’s human error. So, I figured that the best way is to not talk about it. My personal life is private for a reason.”

‘Mubarakan’ also stars Anil Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor. It’s slated for release on 28th July.
