IIFA clarify why ‘Dangal’ was snubbed in nominations list

This year’s International Indian Film Academy awards has caused quite a stir with some of the biggest 2016 movie titles being snubbed from the nominations list.

Indian Censor Board chief Pahlaj Nahlani questioned the credibility of the awards after films like ‘Dangal’, ‘Rustom’ and ‘Airlift’ were ignored in the final nominations.

The organisers of the event have now released a statement about the controversy. Wizcraft International Director Andrew Timmis said, “Basically in IIFA forms are sent to various production houses, They fill up those forms and send it back to us. These forms are put out in the industry for voting and from there it becomes a nomination. So Dangal had not sent their entry in. We would have loved Dangal to be a part of it. It’s the movie that has broken all box office records and we loved Aamir Khan and the two girls in it. But unfortunately they didn’t send their entry in.”
