Huma Qureshi impressed with professionalism of the west

Currently working on Gurinder Chadha’s ‘Viceroy’s House’, actress Huma Qureshi has learned a few things that she feels the Indian film industry lacks, and feels it would really benefit, of the people of the industry took some of these duties on.

“One thing we need to learn from the west is how professional they are about their work. A 7.30am call time means just that. That۪s something we need to imbibe from them,”Hindustan Times reported the actress explaining.

She had recently been shooting in Jodhpur, Rajasthan where the film seems to be set, where she has been amongst the British crew. However, she does believe that the film industries from the west have something to take from Bollywood too. “People in the west need to learn from us how we work with our stories,” Qureshi explained.

With the likes of Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone having taken the plunge and expanded their career overseas, Qureshi shared her opinions on why it has taken so long for more actors and actresses to make that transition. “Indian actors are afraid to go and work abroad because people are very professional over there. In India, we have become very lazy. Everything happens slowly, and as per God۪s will. A 9am call time means we start working at whatever time we wish,” the actress expressed.

When asked of she would take up more roles from the West given the chance, Qureshi replied, “If I۪m playing an Indian in a Hollywood film, I won۪t do it in any funny Indian accent. Earlier, Indians played caricatures in international movies. But, today, we do stories that are original, and not the ones that stereotype Indians in any way. That۪s a positive change.”

‘Viceroy’s House’ is set to release in 2017.
