Hotstar UK ramps up cricket content for 2019/2020 with IPL & India’s home series’

With the battle intensifying between digital platforms, Hotstar has pulled out the biggest surprise for its UK audiences, with exclusive coverage of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2019) and upcoming India’s home cricket tournaments all-year round.

Ahead of its official announcement later this week, BizAsiaLive.com can exclusively reveal that Hotstar will be exclusively broadcasting IPL 2019 in the UK, which kicks off on Saturday 23rd March. As revealed first on BizAsiaLive.com, the lucrative tournament is expected to be shown only on Hotstar, without a television partner for the first time. At the time of publishing this article, it could not be determined whether a last-minute deal with a television channel was in the offing.

As well as IPL 2019, Hotstar has also secured exclusive digital rights for UK viewers of India’s home cricket series’ including matches against South Africa, West Indies, Bangladesh and Australia, taking Hotstar’s cricket calendar up to January 2020.
