Hotstar launches on Android devices in UK

With the launch of Hotstar being rolled out in the UK market this week, BizAsiaLive.com can reveal that the service is now available on Android devices.

Hotstar launched in the UK on Monday with only the web version being accessible. Hotstar sources confirmed to BizAsiaLive.com that the Android app can be downloaded here. The app will also permit viewers to cast content from mobile devices on to television sets.

Regarding the iOS launch of Hotstar, a spokesperson for Hotstar said that the app was being awaiting approval by Apple. The iOS app could be available within days subject to clearance from Apple.

As revealed first on BizAsiaLive.com yesterday, Hotstar has launched in the UK with two subscription plans – Monthly and Annually. As well as catch-up content, Hotstar will also stream content in seven other languages, which may not have been previously available in the UK market. There’s also live sport, kicking off with the Asia Cup 2018 cricket this weekend.
