Hockey star wants Ranbir Kapoor to play lead in biopic?

Ranbir Kapoor Saawariya

With the news of actress Chitrangda Singh turning producer for a biopic film based on hockey star Sandeep Singh, news has it that sportsman himself wants non other than Ranbir Kapoor the star as the lead.

Being a huge fan of the actor, NDTVreported the Singh (Sandeep) stating, “I am a big fan of Ranbir and I want him to play the lead. He has played the role of a Sikh in ‘Rocket Singh’ (2009) and looked very convincing. However, the producer will take a call on this.”

In 2006 whilst on his way to meet his team mates to journey off to Germany for the World Cup, Singh was met with a fatal accident where he was unintentionally shot. The injuries left him nearly paralysed where he spent two years in a wheelchair.

However, this did not let the famous athlete give up on living his dream as a hockey player. After making an incredible recovery, Singh got back into shape and made a winning comeback where the India team won great acclaim.

Being an inspirational to all, Singh went onto say how he wants his biopic to send a very important message, especially to the youth of today, “I want this movie to convey a message to the youngsters that nothing is impossible if you have will power. No one had imagined that I will be able to make a comeback after that accident but I did. I hope that youth will get inspired from my life story.”

The question is, will the new producer agree to the sportsman’s request, and most of all with Kapoor agree to do such a film?
