‘Himmatwala’ continues to struggle at the ticket windows

'Himmatwala' still falling short
'Himmatwala' still falling short

Despite director Sajid Khan’s promise that his latest release ‘Himmatwala’ would wow the audiences, the film is continuing to fall short of expectations at the box office in India.

Although predicted to make a decent 50 crores on it’s opening weekend, ‘Himmatwala’ has made just 31.1 crores. In a turn for the books, the film’s occupancy in cinema halls fell on Saturday as opposed to rising from the first day of release. In comparison, Ajay Devgn’s last release ‘Son of Sardaar’ (2013) managed to make 39.15 crores in the first three days even when contending with ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ (2013). The film has received particularly bad reviews across the board and critics have slated Khan’s attempts at reviving 80s cinema.

Many experts have said that the film should have achieved almost double what it has now what with it being the solo release on a Good Friday. We guess Khan is not laughing all the way to the bank this time round.
