‘Heroine’ to release before ‘English Vinglish’

Kareena Kapoor's 'Heroine' will now be the solo release on 21st September
Kareena Kapoor's 'Heroine' will now be the solo release on 21st September

Two anticipated films being released on the same day, can turn out to be a risky business proposition. This is probably why the filmmakers of ’English Vinglish’ have decided to postpone the release of Sridevi’s comeback ‘English Vinglish’ to 5th October.

According to sources, the film was set to release on the same date (21st September) as Kareena Kapoor’s film ‘Heroine’, but after much debate both Sridevi and Kapoor agreed to let ‘Heroine’ release before the Sridevi starrer.

“It was about two screen queens Sridevi and Kareena Kapoor coming with their films on the same day. Kareena and Sridevi met and talked it out. Both felt ‘Heroine’ couldn’t afford any more delay. So both the actresses decided to let Kareena come first into theatres,” said a source to Bollywood Hungama.

In addition, producer R. Balki explained how the Tamil and Teulgu versions of ‘English Vinglish’ were yet to be completed and he wasn’t keen on rushing them. Eros Entertainment, who are also producing the film said they were keen to stall the film’s release too as they are releasing Prakash Jha’s ‘Chukravyuh’ in the same month and they didn’t want to release two of their films so close together.

‘Heroine’ will have a solo release, but now ‘English Vinglish’ will clash with another woman oriented film as Preity Zinta’s ‘Ishkq in Paris’ is also set to release on the same date.
