Happy Birthday Tarun Mansukhani: What ‘Dostana’ gave us

He is renowned for his directorial debut because of its unconventional topic and out-of-the-box feel but you would be mistaken if you were to think that this was all he had to his name. Tarun Mansukhani made quite an impact with ‘Dostana’ (2008), produced under the Dharma Productions��banner. Director-saab celebrates his birthday today and, at BizAsia, we wanted to wish him in our own unique way.

We’d like to touch on the things we can thank Mansukhani for because of ‘Dostana’. So here goes…

1) An unforgettable male jodi – Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham – is something ‘Dostana’ makes us eternally grateful for. Oh, and also the ‘Jiggeripoo’ antics.

2) The ‘bouncing’ comeback of the bombshell that is Shilpa Shetty and her perfect figure. Enough said.

3) Making us feel like a girl would actually choose a Bobby Deol over a John Abraham. The word ‘misconception’ comes to mind.

4) Giving a female gaze perspective… John Abraham and yellow shorts. Need one say more?

5) Boman Irani in a role that has you in stitches almost every time he comes on screen. Is there any role this actor can’t pull off?

6) A well-toned Priyanka Chopra. Arguably, her gold swimming costume scene is almost on par in hotness stakes��as Abraham’s yellow shorts scene.

For all these reasons and a very many more, BizAsia would like to wish Mansukhani a very happy birthday and say that we await the sequel of the movie with much eagerness.
