Veteran news broadcaster and journalist, Hamid Mir has quit Jang Group and Geo TV after a 20-year tenure.

BizAsiaLive.com understands that Mir will be joining rival media outlet, Gourmet News Network as President. A tweet by fellow journalist Salman Hassan, welcomed Mir on the upcoming news channel.

Mir had served 20 years with Jang Group, the parent company of Geo TV. However, he had protested against censorship, along with a number of other prominent Pakistani journalists. Only a few days ago, Mir had admitted in the Supreme Court that the staff at Geo News was not being paid on time.

Mir was known as the host for Geo News’ popular show ‘Capital Talk’.
