The hugely-talented Guru Randhawa has been creating waves for some time. With such massive tracks which have been appreciated by the audiences, the Punjabi singer is definitely one talent that is sought after today. Having step foot in Bollywood not long ago, Randhawa’s music has resonated so quickly that it was inevitable that he would be reaching heights very early on. Most recently, his song Patola was featured in Irrfan Khan starrer ‘Blackmail’ (2018).

BizAsiaLive.com caught up with Randhawa to talk about his music.

You recently performed for the first time live in the UK. How would you describe the experience?
It was mind-blowing and altogether a new experience for me. It was my first time with BBC Asian Network Live in Birmingham. The crowd was awesome and so responsive. It was a great feeling to know people from all over the world are loving my music. I would definitely love to play there more and more.

What’s the best thing about performing live?
Performing live is the best thing I enjoy. When the audience resonates with my music and sings every single word from the song. the high of performing live is unmatched, the thrill, the love, the energy all makes it an unforgettable experience.

Where do you find inspiration to write songs?
I compose music taking inspiration from everyday lives so that the audience can easily connect with the essence of the music that is being portrayed. I always try to keep my songs very easy with lyrics and catchy, young composition But with independent music, I can do what I feel satisfied with, and not feel the pressure of what others expect me to deliver.

As you write and sing, what do you feel is important when making a song?
Both are equally important, actually.

What do you feel you enjoy most about where you are today?
The love I receive from my fans and the happiness in eyes of my parents it is my biggest achievement. Also, I am proud to represent India on a global level.

You’ve collaborated with a number of artists already. Are there any collaboration coming which we can get excited about?
Yes, hopefully, though I have a lot of singles coming out this year. I will speak about any collaborations once things freeze.

Is there an artist out there (not necessarily Indian) who you would like to work with but haven’t done so yet?
Bruno Mars.

Randhawa is currently signed to T-Series but no doubt he will be associated with more Bollywood tracks as time goes on.
