Gurpreet Singh confirms taking on role in Sony TV’s ‘Porus’

Television star, Gurpreet Singh will be returning to the small screen with Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s ‘Porus’ on Sony TV.

The actor was last seen in ‘Rangrasiya’ and will be playing Ambiraj, the King of Takshashila.

The actor told told Bombay Times, “The story is set in 350 BC, before Alexander came to India, when it was Akhand Bharat. Around this time, hostility was at its peak in the territories of Takshashila and Panchnad.”

This is his second time in a costume drama after ‘Mahabharat’. He said, “Yes, it is the second time I am doing a historical show. But, even as I gave the look test for the show, I fell in love with the story during narration. I feel that it will captivate the audience, because the story works on many different levels and the characters in the show are rich and vibrant. The character that I play I play is crucial to the story and it challenges the actor in me. After that, it was hard to not do the show.”

The show is expected to air this summer.
