Star India has announced the appointment of Gurjeev Singh, who helped drive growth at the broadcaster’s distribution joint venture MediaPro, as the head of its International business.
Singh will move to Star International once the transition of MediaPro is complete. As Chief Operating Officer of MediaPro, Singh led the team to create an extraordinarily successful venture that grew the network’s distribution footprint by accelerating digitization and pushing the envelope on transparency. Singh shaped industry best practices for distribution as it moved from analog to digital.

Singh, who is known for his out-of-box thinking and his role in getting several start-ups up and running, is Mechanical Engineer and also holds a master’s degree in Business Management from, ‘Faculty of Management Studies’, Delhi University. Prior to his role at MediaPro, Singh has had stints with ESPN Star Sports, where he handled various roles in sales, marketing and distribution of the channels in South Asian countries, Set Discovery & Star Den Media Services.
Star TV UK has undergone various management changes recently with the exits of Rajan Singh as International Head and Yeshpal Sharma as Senior Vice President Distribution & Advertising Sales. Kevin Vaz, President and General Manager of Star India is looking after Star TV UK’s business, while Sarika Shankarnarayan is looking after the daily operations and marketing at the network.
Gurjeev who has ultimately replaced Rajan, will look after international territories including UK, Europe, US and South East Asia of Star TV. Gurjeev will be based in London once he completes his transition period at MediaPro.
MediaPro was a distribution alliance between Star India and ZEE India, which eventually split last month due to regulations interventions.
