Gurdas Maan leads in The SSE Wembley Live Awards 2017

Punjabi music legend, Gurdas Maan has overtaken other Asian artists to be named as one of the finalists in The SSE Wembley Live Awards 2017.

Currently, Maan is sitting at No.4 in the vote, just behind mainstream acts like Hillsong Christmas 2017, Queen and Adam Lambert and Steps. Comedian Paul Chowdhry is sitting at No.27, while Shreya Ghoshal is at No.37. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan (41), AR Rahman (46), Adnan Sami (47), Nooran Sisters (55) and Sunidhi Chauhan (60) are outside the Top 40 at the time of filing this article.

Now in its third year, with last year’s campaign garnering an unprecedented three million votes, the campaign has kicked off covering an incredible year in live entertainment at the three SSE-Sponsored venues: The SSE Hydro, The SSE Arena, Wembley and The SSE Arena, Belfast.

Some events have even created personalised videos appealing to fans to help them keep their crown, including WWE Live who were at The SSE Arena, Wembley in November. Last years’ winners include Andy Murray Live for The SSE Hydro, Wet Wet Wet for The SSE Arena, Belfast and Matt Goss at The SSE Arena, Wembley.

Colin Banks, Head of Sponsorship & Reward at SSE, said, “We are very proud to be title sponsors for three such well-recognised and respected venues and we’re really excited to be bringing the SSE Live Awards back for its third year! What makes these awards so special is the fact that they are the fans’ awards – it is their choice who wins and that makes it really special for the acts who are honoured with the titles.”

Fans can submit their vote by visiting The SSE website here.

Voting closes on 31st January 2018.
