‘Gulab Gang’ director Soumik Sen accused of sexual misconduct

After creating a wave of change in Bollywood, the #MeToo movement has caught momentum in the south as well. Several actresses and singers from the industry have come forward with their horrific encounters.

A popular singer from the South Indian Industry has been sharing hers as well as other women’s stories of facing sexual harassment on Twitter. In a post shared by the singer, an actress who did not want to be named has accused ‘Gulab Gang’ (2014) director, Soumik Sen of molesting her when she met him at his home to discuss a role.

The anonymous actress states that Sen approached her for a film on Facebook. He started by asking ‘Are you straight or had a lesbian encounter’ as the character required her to be a lesbian. She actress shares that the director had asked her several uncomfortable questions over a call and she answered it all as she thought he was trying to bring out her sexuality. She was further called on to meet at his Santa Cruz apartment, as he said he did not like to meet over coffee, reports Pinkvilla.

Upon meeting, the post reads that Sen said how smitten he was with her smile and asked her to turn into his muse. The actress further adds that Sen asked her if she watches porn. “Do you watch porn? Let me show you some.’ and continued with several questionable statements till she said him upfront that she did not want to sleep with him. He further told her about another project he wanted to do before the one he offered her. She asked she can train as an A.D on set by assisting him on which he replied, “You can. But you have to kiss me every day’. The actress says she was surprised at how he was so confident throughout by requesting her and placing such demands as he does it on a regular basis. She left his apartment traumatised. The actress ended her post by saying, “He has a wife who loves him dearly and probably does not know the kind of predator he is. He does not deserve to be associated with any project in this film industry.”
