With the influx of Over-The-Top (OTT) media platforms globally, a report by Ernst & Young/FICCI Frames has said that online video viewing grew by 25 per cent in India last year.
The report added that 325 million now watch OTT videos, with the popularity of catch-up TV driving much of the demand. It also said that 70-90 per cent of the total content consumed came from mainstream and conventional broadcasters in India.
It is also worth adding that Indian consumers had downloaded more media and entertainment apps in 2018 than ever before, with a significant rise seen in entertainment, music and gaming apps.
