‘Gold’ to release in IMAX theatres in India & some international markets

IMAX Corporation today announced that Excel Entertainment’s highly anticipated film ‘Gold’, starring superstar Akshay Kumar, will be digitally re-mastered in the immersive IMAX format and released in IMAX® theatres in India and select international markets beginning 15th August 2018.

‘Gold’ is a sports drama inspired by real events during the 1948 Summer Olympics when India, as a free nation, won its first Olympic Gold Medal in field hockey. Akshay Kumar, the mega star of the Indian film industry, plays the lead role in the film which also stars Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Kumar Singh and Sunny Kaushal in essential roles. Marking its release during this year’s Independence Day weekend, ‘Gold’ has already created a lot of buzz amongst the audiences. The film is directed by the renowned screenwriter and director Reema Kagti.

The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.
