Gippy Grewal to shoot for first Punjabi biopic

Punjabi sensation Gippy Grewal will now be seen in the first ever war biopic in the Punjabi film industry titled Subedar Joginder Singh.

As the title suggests the film will be based on the life of Subedhar Joginder Singh who was awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his immense bravery, where he fought against the Chinese at Bumla Tawang in the Indo-China war of 1962. He along with his fellow-men displayed undisputed courage, patriotism and sacrifice and gave up their lives for their motherland in the line of duty.

The film will be produced by Sumeet Singh and will be directed by Simarjit Singh. It will showcase Sikh bravery, suffering and most importantly one sikh warrior against all.

“Its an honour to be able to play such a role, I am absolutely humbled that Simarjit Ji chose me for the role. At the same time it’s a lot of pressure since I am representing Subedhar Joginder Singh and I have to do justice to the character. It’s a challenging role. It is history that we are dwelling into so it is very important to get all the facts right without hurting anybody’s sentiments”, says Grewal.

The film will also feature Aditi Sharma who was seen in films like ‘Saat Uchakkey’, ‘Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl’ and was last seen in television show ‘Gangaa’. The movie will hit the theaters on 15th August 2018.
