‘Ghoomar’ song banned playing at school in India

Controversy surrounding ‘Padmavati’ shows no sign of letting go, with latest reports suggesting that the song “Ghoomar” has been banned from playing at some schools in India.

On Thursday, an education officer in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas district issued a circular banning the song being played at cultural programmes in schools.

The circular published in Pune Mirror said, “Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena has submitted a request letter in the honour of Maa Padmavati. It was requested that Hindu sentiments should not be offended by playing Ghoomar song in the cultural programmes being organised in schools. So, do not use Ghoomar song in the cultural programmes in schools.”
