Get ready for Celebrity Fame Gurukul

Building on the success of the Fame Gurukul brand, Sony Entertainment Television Asia is to launch an extension to its hit series, this time a celebrity version.

Celebrity Fame Gurukul as the show will be known as will see nine celebrities competing for the title. The format of the show will remain as the original. The proceeds of the same would be given to ?Make a Wish Foundation? ? a non-profit organisation.

The nine celebrities will be the new ?Shishyas? of ?Fame Gurukul?. ?Celebrity Fame Gurukul?, which will premiere on Friday 21st October at 20.30, will be telecast Monday-Thursday at 20:30 and on Fridays at 20:00 (IST). The show is expected to start in the UK a week later.

The show is based on the reality show, ?Comic Relief Does Fame Academy?, which was a spinoff on ?Fame Academy? produced by the format owner Gestmusic, part of the Endemol Group. The show premiered on Television Espanol and has been adapted across 11 countries.

Speaking on the launch of the show, Tarun Katial, Executive Vice-President and Business Head, Sony Entertainment Television, said, ?Sony Entertainment Television has always delivered its promise of providing viewers with innovative, engaging, entertaining and path-breaking content. With the huge success of ?Fame Gurukul?, we felt it imperative to extend the equity of the show and take it to another level. Through ?Celebrity Fame Gurukul?, the viewer gets an opportunity to catch some of television?s most well known personalities battle it out with each other on a format that the entire nation loves with the proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of India. It?s truly entertainment with a cause.?
