Geo UK sells vacant Sky EPG slot

Geo Network UK has sold one of the vacant slots that it had occupied on the Sky EPG.

BizAsiaLive.com has learnt that EPG 816 has been sold to one of the top three Indian broadcasters. Geo Network refused to comment on which broadcaster had acquired the slot. However, with Sony Pictures Networks India and ZEE Network planning to launch new channels, it is likely to be one of them. Sony Pictures Networks India recently obtained new licences from Ofcom including Sony MAX 2, Sony Pal and Sony Mix – it is not yet known which service it would launch first.

Viacom18, which runs Colors and Rishtey in the UK, is also rumoured to be wanting to expand its presence in the UK but this could be at a later date.

Geo Network was recently left with a spare EPG slot when it had acquired EPG 802 for Geo News. Geo Tez was then moved to the old Geo News slot – 817. The old Geo Tez EPG 816 has been defunct for a week.
