Geo UK bags ICC Champions Trophy cricket

Geo Network has bagged the UK telecast rights to the ICC Champions Trophy.

The ICC Champions Trophy consists of 15 One Day Internationals between India, Pakistan, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies and Sri Lanka, to be held in South Africa between 24th September and 5th October.

In a statement to BizAsia.co.uk, a Geo UK spokesman said, “In the last 3 years, each year we have moved ahead in approaching the best of sports (especially cricket & Hockey) available for the audience, celebrating the success by broadcasting these events to the audience live. Be it 20-Twenty World Cup in 2007, Asia Cup in 2008, West Indies Vs Pakistan in December 2008 or the recent Pakistan Domestic Cricket. We have won the hearts of the audience through our live event coverage on the channels.”

The channel further added that Geo’s production team in Dubai had been in negotiations with both an Indian and Pakistani Player to conduct the commentary. Details of which will be announced shortly on the channel.

The series will be shown live with Hindi/Urdu commentary on its main Geo UK channel, with highlights on Geo News, each night.
