Geo News cleared by Ofcom over “unfair” treatment complaint

Ofcom has not withheld a complaint raised by Altaf Hussain, made on his behalf by Adil Ghaffar, of unjust or unfair treatment in a programme broadcast on Geo News in February 2018.

The programme included a report about the arrest of a “30 year-old Pakistani” in connection to the kidnapping and subsequent murder of Saeed Khan, the General Secretary to the Awami National Party, a political party in Pakistan. Footage of Hussain’s car and private security personnel was included in the report.

Ofcom considered that, in this case, material facts were not presented, disregarded or omitted in a way that resulted in unfairness to Hussain in the programme as broadcast.
