With Sridevi having been the lead in her debut directorial and Amitabh Bachchan seen in a cameo role, Gauri Shinde instantly won the hearts of all with ‘English Vinglish’ (2012). With her next, ‘Dear Zindagi’, apparently the director had thought of giving the veterans a small role in this one too.

“Oh yes. I was most certainly tempted to create a cameo for him (Bachchan) and for Sridevi. But I felt it would be too gimmicky. I look forward to working with them again,” Deccan Chronicle reports Shinde stating, when asked about the idea.

Talking a little about the story, Shinde revealed, “It’s about life, as seen through the eyes of a woman. It’s about a girl trying to get over her first heartbreak and the man who gives her gyaan on life and love.”

From the trailers of the film, audiences have instantly taken a liking to both Bhatt’s and Khan’s characters. On choosing the actress, Shinde explained, “For the role of my female protagonist I had a few options in mind until I met Alia. And she was it. There’s something magical about her. I had decided I’d work with her when I saw her in ‘Highway’ (2014).”

She also added that Khan was the only one she feels could play this role perfectly, as she expressed, “For the role of the male protagonist Jahangir Khan it had to be none other than Shah Rukh. Jahangir is a wise and entertaining storyteller, just like Shah Rukh. He is so expressive and articulate. There is so much to know and learn from him.”

Also starring Kunal Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur, ‘Dear Zindagi’ is set to hit the big screens on 25th November.
