Flora Saini praises women speaking up about sexual harassment

With more and more experiences of sexual harassment within the industry being spoken about, it is now becoming a lot more prominent that times are truly changing. As many come out in support of these women, ‘Stree’ (2018) actress Flora Saini, in particular, is one who looks up to these women as her heroes, especially after suffering the effect of her ordeal for so many years.

Taking to social media, Saini spoke of her physical abuse whilst she was in a relationship with producer Gaurang Doshi. Posting photos of her bruised and beaten up face on Facebook, the actress spoke about how it was the last year of her abuse, where Doshi had fractured her jaw. “I realised me talking about it, that time, just went against me,coz he was the powerful one n nobody wanted to believe in some girl who was relatively new in the industry. It was his word against mine, and of course, his word mattered,” she captioned.

She went on to explain how Doshi had threatened her, kept her away from the limelight, and also tried to ruin her career where she would be replaced in films, and many wouldn’t want to even meet her.

Shouting out to all those who have spoken out, speaking from experiences and understanding what it takes, went on to express,”This note is for all the people who have chosen to speak

who are standing up against anybody who has done them wrong, no matter how powerful or renowned ..it’s takes guts.. a lot of guts.. the abuser forgets, but the abused carries the baggage forever.. u guys make me so proud to b a woman in this industry today where our voice is being heard where people are not judging us for speaking out against an abuser.. they r actually coming together to make the work space safe for us even more.. to all the people who are standing up to talk n all those who standing up to support..  I bow to you.. ur my SUPERHERO’s. & Trust me ..THE WORLD NEEDS MORE OF U.”
