Five Hindi GEC shows expected to go off-air after IPL 2025

It’s that time of year again when Hindi General Entertainment Channels (GECs) take a moment to pause and reset. With the Indian Premier League (IPL) just around the corner, Hindi GECs are gearing up to refresh their line-ups by phasing out underperforming shows and preparing for bigger launches.

As the IPL 2025 season wraps up in May, several popular shows on Hindi GECs will come to an end, making way for fresh content. BizAsiaLive.com highlights five fiction shows expected to bow out soon.

‘Kumkum Bhagya’
on ZEE TV

The longest-running show on ZEE TV has undergone numerous revamps over the years. Although it was expected to end earlier this year, it continued after another generational leap. However, the current phase, starring Pranali Rathod and Akshay Bindra, has failed to resonate with viewers, resulting in poor ratings. As a result, the show is likely to be pulled off-air in the coming weeks.

‘Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin’
on Star Plus

A long-time hit for Star Plus, ‘Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin’ has seen a sharp decline in ratings recently. Starring Vaibhavi Hankare, Param Singh, and Sanam Johar, the show is expected to undergo significant changes, including the introduction of new characters, before a final decision is made about its future.

‘Megha Barsenge’
on Colors

Although ‘Megha Barsenge’ has only been on-air for a short time, its disappointing viewership figures have led to plans for its phase-out. Starring Neha Rana, Neil Bhatt, and Kinshuk Mahajan, the show launched with much excitement but has struggled to maintain audience interest.

‘Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye’
on ZEE TV

Starring Arjit Taneja and Sriti Jha, this show has been under scrutiny for several weeks. Despite a recent shift in storyline, it has failed to meet expectations, with ratings consistently remaining low. As a result, the show is unlikely to continue for much longer.

‘Pocket Mein Aasman’
on Star Plus

This recently launched show has struggled with poor ratings, and its future now looks uncertain. With underwhelming viewer engagement, the series seems to be heading for an early exit.

As the IPL approaches, these shows will likely make way for new, high-profile launches, marking the beginning of a fresh phase for Hindi GECs.
