First Kurdish TV channel, Rudaw launches on Freeview in UK
The first Kurdish TV channel, Rudaw has launched on Free via the Channelbox platform.
Rudaw is the biggest Kurdish news network delivering news from Iraqi Kurdistan and the Middle East. There are over 250,000 Kurds living in the UK, making it one of the largest diasporas in the country. Rudaw is the first Kurdish language TV channel launched in the UK, available via Channelbox on Freeview 271.
Channelbox is a multi-channel TV service that bundles a curated selection of free-to-air TV channels, delivered to Freeview via the public Internet. The service caters for international communities living in the UK bringing the news in French, Greek and now in Kurdish languages. The current Channelbox line-up includes France24, Hellenic TV, Rudaw, Retro Movies and Law and Crime. More channels will be announced in January 2020.
