Firoz A Nadiadwala imprisoned for three months
Firoz A Nadiadwala has been handed a three-month jail sentence after he was convicted for a year long delay in depositing Rs 8.56 lakh as tax deducted at source (TDS) during the financial year 2009-10.
Times of India reports that the court refuted the submission of the accused hat the delay due to financial constraints and less business during the 2009-10 period.
The defence said that there was no active film production for three years and income only came in from old film sales, which resulted in a delay of funds being deposited.
The defence also added that he was a regular tax payer and a fall case had been filed against him.
