Final farewell: Rajesh Khanna laid to rest

The world has been paying tribute to the Bollywood superstar, Rajesh Khanna who breathed his last on Wednesday in Mumbai.

He made his final journey from his cherished home ��Aashirwad�۪ in Carter Road in Mumbai towards Paramhans crematorium in Vile Parle.

According to reports, Khanna’s funeral procession began around 10:15 on Thursday morning and reached the crematorium at around 11:00. The last rites were performed by Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar�۪s son, Aarav.

The late superstar`s close friend Vijay Zaveri said, “Aarav lit the pyre and Akshay Kumar assisted him.”

As well as close family that included estranged wife Dimple Kapadia, daughters Twinkle and Rinke Khanna, industry friends were also present at the funeral. Karan Johar, Rani Mukerji, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan were seen at the crematorium.

The cause of the legend’s death was also reported today after his close friend Vijay Zaveri told reporters that it was down to liver infection. He said, “His liver got infected. He could not digest his food after a certain point of time. During his last days, he could not take solid food so he was on liquid intake.”
