Filmmaker Milap Zaveri quits Twitter & brands it a “toxic place”

Filmmaker Milap Zaveri has taken to Instagram to confirm that he has quit the micro-blogging site, Twitter.

Branding it a “toxic place”, Zaveri said that he had joined the platform as “great place” to express “views, thoughts, and musings” but not anymore.

His decision to leave the site came after he incorrectly tweeted the death of Nishikant Kamat earlier in the day. He was trolled by users on social media. However, a few hours later, Kamat passed away.

His statement said, “When I joined Twitter it was a great place to express one’s views, thoughts, musings. To connect with people. To appreciate others. To be updated with the latest news. But off late it’s become an extemely toxic place full of trolls and negativity. But I’m a very positive person! Hence, today I bid it adieu.”
