Film body suspends Sajid Khan for a year over #MeToo allegations
The Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association has suspended filmmaker Sajid Khan for a year over sexual harassment allegations in the #MeToo movement.
Khan had been accused of sexual misconduct by actresses Saloni Chopra and Rachel White, and journalist Karishma Upadhyay.
DNA India reports that the film body had issued a notice to the director in October in writing, which asked him to comment on the allegations he is facing. Khan has since stepped down as director of upcoming film ‘Housefull 4’. He also took to Twitter to confirm he was taking time out. He said, “In the wake of the allegations against me and the pressure being put on my family, my producer and the stars of my film Housefull 4, I must take the moral responsibility of stepping down from my directorial post, till the time I can allay the allegations and prove the truth.”
