Fashion retailer unveils front display to reflect Leicester Pride

Popular Leicester fashion retailer, Anokhi House of Sarees has unveiled a vibrant window display to coincide with this weekend’s Leicester Pride.

Anokhi House of Sarees, situated on the iconic Belgrave Road, has regularly supported various events in the community. Propertier Karan Modha, who conceptualised the plan for the store, told BizAsiaLive.com that the idea of a Pride theme has been in the works for many years. He said, “The idea came to me a few years ago and I was scared to do something as thought someone may vandalise the window – but then I thought hold on we live in 2019 and let’s support it. After all, love is love.”

Asked how the response has been since the display went live this week, Modha said, “It has been fantastic – we took the first step and broke the mold and it’s to show we support and are proud of everyone involved in pride. And hope this may help Asians speak out or come out and not to be judged or scared.”

Leicester Pride is a celebration of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) life. The festival takes place on Saturday 31st August in Leicester City Centre, with over 2,000 members of the public expected to be a part of the event.
