Farhan Akhtar opted out of ‘Raees’ due to similarities with ‘Wazir’

Farhan Akhtar was initially meant to star in Rahul Dholakia directed ��Raees�۪ with Shah Rukh Khan. The role eventually went to Nawazuddin Siddiqui but Akhtar has finally revealed why he chose not to star in the film.

According to Indian Express, during the launch of the ��Wazir�۪ trailer, Akhtar was asked whether he decided not to do ��Raees�۪ as he was already playing a cop in ��Wazir�۪. The actor replied, ���Yes, absolutely right. Raees was supposed to happen at a very different time. It was not about wanting to play a police officer in it, it was about not wanting to do it immediately. So it would have been the next thing I shot for (after Wazir)�۝.

���I was a bit uncomfortable with that. The two are completely different projects but more or less you�۪re playing the same kind of character. The foundation was the same so I didn�۪t want to do it. But it�۪s fantastic because we have Nawazuddin who is now playing the character, he is a fantastic actor,�۝ added Akhtar, who is also producing ��Raees�۪.

��Wazir�۪ also stars Amitabh Bachchan and is slated for release on 8th January.
