Family Channel to launch on Sky mid-2007

A new Islamic infotainment channel is gearing for its Sky Digital launch later this year.

The Family Channel, as it will be known, will go live towards the middle of this year. According to information released exclusively to BizAsia.co.uk, the channel will appeal to the tastes of culturally and religiously diverse people in today�۪s Global Village.

The channel has already hundred of hours of content banked, which is ready to go live. Its programming will consist of documentaries and current affairs that explore the Islamic world from its “golden age to modern day Britain”. The channel further promises that it will entice viewers with travel shows taking women to Muslim historic cities and competitive sport shows that go beyond David Beckham and Tim Henman.

The programmes will work around an Islamic framework so that every generation can comfortably view it�۪s programmes at the same time.

The Family Channel is the brainchild of Tahir Khan who was previously a business partner in the yet to launch Noor TV. Tahir pulled out of Noor over personal reasons to set up this new project.
