‘Fakir Of Venice’ set for release finally 12 years after completion

What was to be Farhan Akhtar’s debut film, is now ready to be released 12 years after completion.

Reported on Asian Age, directed by Anand Surapur, the film ‘Fakir Of Venice’ had Akhtar in a lead role alongside Annu Kapoor, who was deemed more popular than the ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ (2015) star at the time. The film found itself battling financial and legal issues, which delayed the initial release.

According to sources, Bollywood entertainment giant, Pritish Nandy Communications (PNC) had claimed a stake in the film. At a hearing the PNC’s Advocate said that the film was the property of PNC until the debt had been repaid, however fortunately for Surapur the outcome was in his favour. “Advocate Mahesh A Mahadgut who represents PNC issued a public notice saying that the film is under lien with Pritish Nandy Communications since June 2011, and Surapur and his company Phat Phish could not enter into any agreement with any third party without obtaining an NOC from them. Finally, they managed to reach a compromise and the film will now release albeit without much publicity,” said the source.

The makers had tried to release ‘Fakir Of Venice’ on the 5th January 2018, but it didn’t materialise. The ‘Rock On!!’ (2008) actor posted the film’s trailer and confirmed the release of the film, which will now be 18th January.
