EXCLUSIVE: Vectone brings Punjabi MH1 to UK

Asian broadcaster Vectone TV will be boosting its TV bouquet further with the launch of the much popular Punjabi channel MH1 next month.

The new channel will be branded as Vectone MH1 and launches on Monday 5th December. MH1 is one of India’s most popular Punjabi channels and trails behind ZEE and ETC Punjabi.

The arrival of MH1 to the UK will certainly break the Punjabi market monopoly currently held by Alpha ETC Punjabi. Vectone also at present broadcasts a Punjabi channel, which features live local programming, so, with the addition of MH1 the broadcaster hopes to bring the whole Punjabi essence from India directly to the UK via MH1.

Programmes on the channel will consist of religious, dramas and entertainment shows including music based programming and gameshows.

Vectone MH1 will broadcast free-to-air initially but negotiations are already on about encrypting the channel along with the other Vectone channels soon.

Vectone MH1 will be launching on Sky Digital and this will be Vectone’s seventh channel in the UK. Previously we reported that Vectone was to launch Vectone Uni+, which was to show programmes from Lahore and Punjab, however, we have now been informed that the channel has now been delayed until further notice. We’ll keep you right up to date with the latest Vectone happenings.

Testing of Vectone MH1 can be viewed on Sky Digital off the Sky EPG at 11.222 (V) under the label “53156”. Only EPG data relating to MH1 can be seen. Audio and visual tests are set to go live next week.
