Exclusive: Urdu1 to launch in UK in Q1/17

Pakistan’s popular entertainment channel, Urdu1 is set to launch in the UK within the first quarter of 2017, BizAsiaLive.com can exclusively reveal.

As revealed first on BizAsiaLive.com yesterday, Urdu1 had obtained a television licence from Ofcom to broadcast in the UK. It has now emerged that the service will be here in the UK sooner than planned.

The channel is said to be fast-tracking its launch, to ensure it launches ahead of any impending competition and changes in the UK market. It has already been widely reported on BizAsiaLive.com that a number of changes could be seen in the current Sky Asia Pack, which could impact the UK television market further.

It is understood that Urdu1 will be managed by an existing UK sales/marketing agency, details of which are expected later this month.
